The young keeper made a string of excellent saves in Saturday’s 2-0 defeat at London Road to stop his side taking a hammering.
Bass’ first-half stop from Ivan Toney was world class and left League One’s top scorer stunned at how the 21-year-old kept the ball out of the net from point-blank range.

Bass said: ‘Alex did (make a number of saves) and he’s been good for us.
‘It’s been a good department with Craig as well.
‘They definitely worked Bass a lot more than we worked (Peterborough keeper) Pym.
‘Maybe he did (keep Pompey in the game) at times.
‘They always posed a threat, though, as we saw with the second goal.’

Peterborough had 21 shots on goal to the Blues’ eight which was a fair reflection of the action on the pitch.
Jackett felt both Ronan Curtis and John Marquis were unable to get into the game as Pompey’s attacking efforts stalled.
He added: ‘We were looking to press, combine and get up the pitch.

‘We give Ronan that freedom but it was tough to get up and off those guys and find the right combinations to get the shots in.’
‘The one v one situations weren’t ours and that’s where we needed more.’
