Pompey could still be knocked off the top of the League One table before Christmas Day.

The Blues are still at the summit following yesterday’s results. But Doncaster’s 3-1 win at Burton means they can go top if they beat Shrewsbury at home in a game in hand they are playing on Tuesday.

Fejiri Okenabirhie, Benjamin Whiteman and Taylor Richards got the Rovers goals in yesterday’s win. And they were one of a number of the chasing pack to claim three points.

Michael Appleton’s Lincoln City moved level on points with Pompey – though their goal difference is nine worse – with a 4-0 win at Northampton.

Anthony Scully, Tom Hopper and Brennan Johnson (2) were on target.

Charlton were denied a place in the top six by ex-Pompey hotshot Brett Pitman at Swindon. He made it 2-2 in the 90th minute after goals from another ex-Fratton forward, Omar Bogle, and Chuks Aneke, had put the Addicks in the driving seat.

Another promotion chaser to draw were Accrington, who finished goalless at home to Blackpool.
