Paul Cook is staying grounded after Pompey produced one of their best displays of his era as manager.

The Blues battered 10-man Barnet with a performance of attacking verve at Fratton Park today.

Conor Chaplin, Gary Roberts, Carl Baker, substitute Milan Lalkovic and Danny Rose got the goals which did the damage in the 5-1 win.

Cook wasn’t getting carried away about the performance against Martin Allen’s side.

But he was pleased with how they responded to falling a goal behind to John Akinde’s penalty.

Cook said: ‘We had a good day today, but we just have to move on.

‘We were terrific, had some good performances and scored some top-drawer goals.

‘I’m building a team to pass and move the ball and we did that well.

‘It’s a tough game and a tough fixture against a tough side. Very strong opposition.

‘So the players deserve plaudits for coming back from a goal down and playing like they did.’
