A yellow weather warning will remain in place across the Portsmouth area overnight.

The Met Office has issued the alert for strong winds in the city and the surrounding towns.

It came into force at noon today and remains in place until 9am tomorrow.

On its website, the Met Office warns: ‘A spell of disruptive winds is likely from Monday afternoon until Tuesday morning.
