World's first hybrid cruise ship MS Fridjtof Nansen to arrive in Portsmouth tomorrow: what time, where to see it, what it's like on board

MS Fridjtof Nansen, a cruise liner named after a Norweigan polar explorer, is one of the world's first battery-powered hybrid cruise ships.

The vessel, which has a passenger capacity of 530, will be docking at Portsmouth International Port at around 8am.

The ship features fine-dining restaurants, a science centre, a gym and more.

Mike Sellers, director of Portsmouth International Port, is excited about the ship’s arrival.

He said: ‘We’re proud to welcome one of Hurtigruten’s game changing ships, as all eyes are on the hotly anticipated MS Fridtjof Nansen making its first appearance.

‘This environmentally advanced cruise ship is leading the way for innovative green initiatives and complements our ambition to become one of the UK’s most sustainable ports.

‘We share Hurtigruten’s values to look at alternative ways to reduce our carbon footprint, while also providing an opportunity to explore some of the planet’s most diverse locations.

‘The arrival in Portsmouth is one of the first opportunities to see the brand-new vessel as she begins her inaugural sailings.’

MS Fridjtof Nansen will be making a number of visits to Portsmouth as part of her pre-inaugural voyages.

The best place to see her come into the city tomorrow morning will be along the Hot Walls in Old Portsmouth, at around 7am.
