Marwell Zoo car park damaged by 'extremely high winds' with site closed to guests without a booking
The zoo has reported damage across its parking facilities this afternoon, which means that it will be closed to guests without a booking on Monday.
In a social media post, a representative from Marwell Zoo said: ‘After sudden and extremely high winds earlier this afternoon, we have unfortunately suffered damage to our car park and have limited parking at the zoo tomorrow.

Hide Ad‘Please only visit the zoo tomorrow, if you have already booked tickets. We ask annual members and others who have not booked to postpone your visit – tickets have been switched off for this day.
‘The entrance to the zoo from Winchester Road will be closed for part of tomorrow morning, but the zoo entrance will still be accessible via Hurst Lane.
‘We hope to be able to resume normal operations on Tuesday; however please do keep an eye on our website and social media for the latest updates.
‘Thankfully the rest of the zoo is undamaged, and our animals and staff are also safe.’

Hide AdPolice have also reported multiple felled trees along Thompsons Lane leading to the site.
A representative from Hampshire Constabulary said: ‘Thompsons Lane currently closed at Portsmouth Road towards Marwell Zoo due to multiple trees down following storm. To access Zoo and Hotel please divert along Hurst Lane.’
