A CHARITY has been given a welcome donation from a company that specialises in retirement living.

The Cosham Lions work within the community to help those who are disadvantaged, whether physically, mentally or emotionally.

However, they do rely on donations and external support to carry on their work.

This week, they have received a £500 donation from Churchill Retirement Living, a company that provides purpose-built apartments for the elderly.

Pat Nixon, Cosham Lions president, said: ‘We ensure that all the money we raise and donations that are made go towards helping the local community in a number of ways, with every penny collected going direct to good causes and not a penny spent on administration. We focus on good deeds and help those who are less fortunate than ourselves.

‘The award of £500 from Churchill Retirement Living is very gratefully received and will go a long way in helping to deliver some of our initiatives in the local community.’

Churchill’s regional marketing executive Deborah Waldeck said: ‘Churchill Retirement Living is well -known for its charity work and giving something back to the community is a fundamental part of what we believe in. We wanted to make a contribution to a local charity that makes a real difference and it’s a pleasure to be supporting the important work that the Cosham Lions do.’
