Hampshire hospice awarded top care quality marker

The Rowans Hospice, in Purbrook Heath Road, has been accredited by health body CHKS for its high quality of care – which meets top international standards.

It is the fifth time the institution has been awarded the prestigious accolade.

Jenny Redman, director of quality for The Rowans, said she was proud of her team and their tireless efforts.

‘Together we worked as a team to achieve this and we can now hold our heads up high and sing our praises,’ she added.

The CHKS accreditation was awarded after a survey in April.

It saw an external team assessing every aspect of the hospice, from its palliative care and end-of-life services to support and business acumen.

Ruth White, chief executive of the hospice, said: ‘We are delighted that, following a rigorous process of assessment by CHKS, Rowans Hospice has once again been awarded this accreditation.

‘This is a significant achievement and I am grateful for the tenacity and perseverance of the teams across the organisation for their efforts.’

Moyra Amess, associate director, assurance and accreditation, CHKS said: ‘The accreditation process requires dedication and commitment.

‘Every organisation we make this award to has proved to our external assessors that its standards and process meet international best practice standards. This is a significant achievement.’

The care quality stamp will last until 2019, following yearly inspections in between.
