Hampshire County Council leader backs £7m children's homes plans

PLANS to build six new children's homes in the county have been backed by Hampshire County Council's leader.

Councillor Roy Perry said he was ‘extremely pleased’ to hear that building progress on the new homes was moving well ahead of its 2018 target.

The first of the homes, in the New Forest district, is set to be complete later this year with the council’s five other homes in Eastleigh, Fareham, Havant, Test Valley and Winchester either under construction or set to be built.

Cllr Perry said: ‘The county council’s capacity and successful financial stewardship has enabled the authority to maintain its commitment to the future generation of Hampshire residents - providing facilities for children to learn, grow and to be kept safe from harm and neglect.’

The project is costing £7m.
